The most common mid-sized Kingfisher which is smaller than the collared, nests in tree hollows, river banks and arboreal termite nests.
The three similar kingfishers, forest, sacred and collared are to some not easy to differentiate however I split the species on their loral spot. The sacred has a orange-buff spot that lines the top perimeter of the eye.
