This is an odd duck, it's bulk is great so it is a powerful swimmer and can deep dive for animals below such as crustaceans, snails, frogs, fish and on the surface it will eat ducklings. However it is so muscular and hefty that it requires a larger distance of runway top take off, though I haven't seen it fly as this is done at night. It's mating ritual is lengthy and quite unique, involving it's fan-tail and musk lobe.
